Arriving in Egypt

After you have deposited your tuition fee and enrolled for a full year, the admission office will provide you with a hard copy Letter of Enrollment to apply for a student residency visa valid for one year. Once you receive the Letter of Enrollment, sign up at the International Program Office to receive an email with the exact details for your appointment at the immigration process. There will be a person who will guide you through the process. You must be registered for 10 courses per year to be eligible for a student residency visa.

Incoming exchange students who are staying for only one semester don’t have to apply for a student residency visa. They can extend their visa for another 3 to 6 months in person at the General Administration of Passports, Immigration and Nationality building located in Cairo’s Abbasiya district. To receive assistance for a visa extension, international students must sign up at the International Program Office to receive an email with the exact date of appointment for the immigration process and what type of documents to bring. Someone will be there to guide them through the process.

To learn more about obtaining a visa or student residency in Egypt, please visit the General Administration of Passports, Immigration and Nationality official website or consult with the Egyptian embassy or consulate in your home country.
