Universities of Canada celebrated two milestones with the presence of H.E. Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar

Saturday, March 26th – Universities of Canada celebrated two milestones with the presence of H.E. Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, and his delegation, who visited UofCanada Campus for Ryerson Cairo building opening and UPEI Cairo Campus’ first graduating class pre-ceremony. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Magdy Elkady, UofCanada’s President, and Dr. Ramy Sallam, Vice President for Admin & Finance.

As Ryerson Cairo celebrates the opening of its state-of-the-art building, the delegation was taken on a tour of the building led by Stefan Grambart, Media Production & Sport Media Program Lead & Lecturer at The Creative School Cairo. H.E explored the innovative labs, studios, learning spaces, and workshops in the building equipped with the latest technologies, ready for Ryerson Cairo’s first cohort this Fall semester in September 2022.

UPEI Cairo Campus is graduating the first class in the New Administrative Capital and International Branch Campus (IBC) in Egypt. The students captured the moment in their caps and gowns with H.E and had a pre-celebration ceremony to commemorate this remarkable milestone.

Dr. Hadia Hamdy, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Academic Development, and Dr. Kim Critchley, Provost at UPEI Cairo Campus led the tour of UPEI Cairo Campus building and proceeded with a Q&A session with H.E guided by two of our students Fahad Williams & Salma Kassem.

During the Q&A session, H.E expressed his pride in seeing the development of Universities of Canada, who has witnessed the campus construction all the way to graduating its first-ever class from UPEI Cairo Campus, highlighting the demand for our graduating class in the local and international job market.

H.E highlighted the importance of Dr. Magdy Elkady & Dr. Ramy Sallam taking the first steps to open Egypt’s first IBC and were the first to believe in the government’s vision in the value of establishing IBC models all over Egypt.

The visit was wrapped up with H.E stopping by the Spring Festival, organized by our Student Union (SU). Fahad & Jumana, President and Vice President of our SU led a tour among the vendors at the event for our visitors.

UofCanada had the absolute pleasure of hosting H.E and the delegation on campus to celebrate two of our first milestones in 2022!
